Our President's Message
As the year 2015 comes to an end, I wish all our congregants a safe and peaceful 2016.
I would like to take this opportunity to bring forward information about our progress in areas important to all, since our last informational get together.
Our Rabbi search continues. We recently spent some time with a Rabbi candidate and his wife entertaining them over night while interviewing with extensive questions the next day. We feel that this candidate might be worth visiting at their congregation. One candidate that we previously had to the Villages, has removed himself from the list. We are continuing with other resumes, first by SKYPE, and then if the committee decides they have the characteristics for our congregation, an invite for a first in person meeting.
The committee is hard at work and our future discussions will be how to best integrate the candidate with the congregation. We will be discussing methods that other congregations have successfully used, and try to apply them to Temple Shalom. We will continue to keep you informed in the future.
This past week we have concluded our discussions with our Spiritual Leader and have a signed contract thru 2016. This includes Sheldon’s willingness to be an integral part of the transition as the congregation moves from Spiritual Leader to Rabbi. We look forward to this smooth process.
We are ever grateful to Sheldon for being a vital participant in the building of our congregation, and know that his wealth of knowledge, and love of Temple Shalom will continue to be a guiding light long into the future.
I look forward to seeing you at the AGM on Thursday January 21, at 7:00 P.M.
Steve Lowe, President
Thank You for the opportunity to serve.
